Alongside the timer, you can use focus notes, session history, optional app blocking, sound, reminders, and quick ways to return from your Home Screen or Lock Screen. **Can I choose how long to focus?** Yes. Choose a 15, 25, 45, or 60-minute session before you begin. Pick a length that fits the task and the time you have. **Can I give a session a name?** Yes. Add an optional focus note before you start, such as reading, studying, or a task you want to finish. It stays with the session on your phone, so you can look back at what you made time for. **How do stars and constellations unlock?** Completed focus sessions gradually light stars and reveal real constellations. Some reveals take more than one session, and constellations belong to larger families of the sky. The progress shown in the app tells you what comes next. **What happens if I finish early?** You can end a session early. The focus time you earned is recorded separately from completed sessions. An early finish does not count as a completed session toward the next sky reveal, and it does not remove stars you have already uncovered. **Do I have to keep the app open?** No. You can lock your phone or leave Awhile while the timer runs. If you keep the focus screen open, it stays awake. Optional completion notifications and Live Activities help you keep track without returning to the app; any apps you chose to block remain restricted during the session. ### Distractions & sound **Can Awhile block distracting apps and websites?** On iPhone, Awhile uses Apple’s Screen Time permission to block the apps, categories, and websites you choose during a focus session. Blocking is optional: you can use the timer without granting that permission. **When do my blocked apps become available again?** The session’s blocks are released when the session ends, including when you choose to finish early. You can manage your selections in the app-blocking settings. **Does Awhile turn on iPhone Focus or Sleep Focus?** Awhile includes a setup guide for choosing which people and apps can reach you through iPhone Focus. You configure and activate the system Focus mode yourself in Settings or Control Center; Awhile does not switch Sleep Focus on automatically. **Can I change the sound and haptics?** Yes. Sky music, focus ambience, little sound effects, and gentle haptics have their own controls. You can turn them off and focus in silence. Your choices are saved for the next time you open the app. **Can I use my own Apple Music playlist?** On iPhone, you can connect Apple Music and select a playlist in Sound settings. The playlist replaces the built-in ambience during focus. Access depends on your music account, permissions, and any subscription required by Apple Music. ### Progress & reminders **What can I see in my focus history?** Your journey shows total focus minutes and how many sessions you started and completed. Day-by-day views cover the last 7, 14, or 30 days. Open a day to review its individual sessions and the time you earned. **Do I need to maintain a daily streak?** No. Awhile is built around the time you make, without a daily streak to protect. Your revealed sky is a record you can return to at your own pace. **Can I get a notification when a session ends?** Yes, if you allow notifications. Awhile can send a quiet completion reminder when your session ends. Notifications are optional, and the timer still works when they are off. **What is the wellbeing check-in?** If your timer has finished and you have not returned to Awhile, an optional check-in can send one gentle note. Choose how long to wait and a message, such as a reminder to drink water or take a break, or write your own. It needs notification permission. **Can I schedule reminders to come back?** Yes. Enable come-back reminders and choose the days of the week and times that suit you. These reminders are off until you opt in, and you can adjust or disable them in Notifications settings. ### Devices & preferences **Can I see the timer on my Lock Screen?** On supported iPhones, optional Live Activities show the running timer on the Lock Screen and, where available, in the Dynamic Island. Turn them on in Awhile’s notification settings and allow them in iPhone Settings. **Does Awhile have a Home Screen widget?** Yes. The iPhone app includes small and medium Home Screen widgets. They offer a shortcut to begin your last focus session or return to the one already running, and show session progress. **Can I turn off the moving sky?** Yes. Turn off Living scene before or during a focus session to keep the sky still. The app also respects the system Reduce Motion setting. **Where is my progress saved?** Your focus sessions, notes, settings, and sky progress are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app may remove that local data. **Is Awhile available on Android?** Yes, as a beta distributed through Google Play. Join the tester group, opt in to the test, and then install the app using the same Google account throughout. Android beta features may differ from the iPhone features described here. **Where can I get help?** Visit our support page for help with sessions, sound, permissions, and ways to contact us.
